Your Questions & The Answers
This area will have the questions that you ask. Not all questions will be posted unless they meet this criteria: 1 -...are NOT unique to you and your system 2-...have manageable consequences (will not cause system failure) 3-...are cost effective for you (free is good) 4-...when I hear 'providers' are having problems 5-...or are just GREAT questions!

Question: In the task bar (down by the clock) the RED HEART comes up and shows me that my Anti-virus may not be working. Why does it do that? What should I do?
Answer: Microsoft is doing 'constant' updates of its programs and operating system(s). These updates are needed for your computer to be 'repaired' helping all the programs run more efficiently. Normally, after the Anti-virus updates are installed -- all will be well and the 'heart' or MS-Shield will go away. If this occurs...you are all set. BUT... If the MS-Shield does NOT go away, right click on your firewall/antivirus icon in the system tray and choose UPDATE. Once the update is complete, you may need to restart your computer. Once it is restarted the MS-Shield should be gone...or should vanish.
Answer: The MS-Shield is trying to 'help' you, or inform you of changes. That is why it appears at times.
Question: What is GOING ON with my computer?? Every day something changes and is acting very odd. Some days I cannot use my monitor, mouse, USB device and some times my printer does not work! "Everything was GREAT yesterday, but today...it all is horrible!" HELP! HELP!!
Answer: Microsoft and many other companies are 'updating' programs to work with Vista/Windows 7 and yes, Windows XP. All of these massive changes will affect your computer and ALL devices you may be using. In the next 6 months (things may get worse). However, normally once the problems are logged and evaluated with the 'BIG' companies, including Microsoft, help will come and things 'should' work again. What do you do until then? There is nothing to do, except report in 'problems' to me or Microsoft or the other companies who's equipment you have purchased and are using. As always, I will try to help you over these problems. I send reports daily and try and ferret out the problems 'technically' to help speed up the situation. Purchasing NEW equipment is NOT necessarily going to fix the problem. NEW problems could surface. When you have a problem, try to live with it...SEND REPORTS TO Microsoft, let me know, wait for about three days. THERE ARE NO GOOD OR EASY ANSWERS FOR NOW.
Question: I am getting a message my Firewall/Antivirus is out of date or not working! Now what?!
Answer: Call or email me and ask about your subscription. I am finding with the updates taking place online, all programs are 'glitching' with messages about how YOU need to pay more..pay again..or are just not covered! These messages are 'normally' incorrect. First, let me help you find the fix to this problem. I have notes about the firewall/antivirus protection and when they are due for a subscription renewal. DO NOT pay anyone until you and I have spoken. Next, many 'rouge' programs are causing some of these messages that APPEAR to be from your firewall/antivirus. However, they are fraudulent programs WANTING you to click them. Most can be ignored. If you have doubts or questions...let me know. The last problem is a window that opens that says you are NOT covered by a firewall or antivirus. This message is a scam. If you see it when you are surfing the net, just ignore it. Remember the last newsletter...it had instruction on how to check your subscription. This should be the best way to find it out. NOTE: If I recently put Trend Micro on your system and it shows an expiration date one month after I put it on...keep in mind it will auto-renew for the entire year. It has already been paid for!!
UPDATE: NEW PROBLEM!! WARNING!! It has been released that Adobe products are going to be experiencing more hack attempts this year... I have just heard this information and will be looking into what types of events are happening with Adobe. PLEASE be mindful of any updates from Adobe (especially FLASH).
What you should do: Try to live without Adobe Updates for now. As more information comes to me, I will update you here or in the newsletter. If you 'see' something odd that concerns Adobe products, call me and leave a detailed message as to what you are seeing or experiencing. You may email information to me as well.
